Hugh (Huge Horns) Hiorns- Bari, tenor, alto saxes, vocals, horn section arranger

Music History-  Hugh has a long history with many of the members of Planet Groove.   Hugh and Bill went to high school together where they thought they would rule the world with their first brain storm of a band called "Sequel" (somehow it just never got off the ground), Hugh and Ben go back as far as grade school.    Hugh graduated from University of Illinois in 1988, with a music education degree, although he spent his first two years at DePaul University.   There he studied with Don DeRoche, and J. Lawrie Bloom, a CSO clarinetist.   After college, Hugh has played in many different music genres, big band jazz (Glen Ellyn Jazz Ensemble, The Limited Edition), and has conducted and played in the Encore Theater Company, and Tempo Players Theater.  Along with that, Hugh has also played classical music in The Piccardy Ensemble, and other varied chamber groups in the Chicagoland Area.

Favorite Foods- Mexican and Chinese (not necessarily at the same time but Hugh is willing to learn)

Something No One Would Know About Hugh- Played cello in 5th and 6th grade, played viola for one year in college, and has 11 current or retired music teachers in his immediate family.
